This is a fine example of a Trade Ad. Its in gorgeous condition. Trade cards evolved from cards of the late 1700s used by tradesmen to advertise their services. Although examples from the early 1800s exist, it was not until the spread of color lithography in the 1870s that trade cards became plentiful. By the 1880s, trade cards had become a major way of advertising America's goods and services, and a trip to the store usually brought back some of these attractive, brightly colored cards to be pasted into a scrapbook. The popularity of trade cards peaked around 1890, and then almost completely faded by the early 1900s when other forms of advertising in color, such as magazines, became more cost effective.

The Bacorn Company of Elmira, New York opened business around 1909 and closed due to a fire in 1927. The company sold their products thru mail order and also, like the California Perfume Co, through door to door sales ladies. In addition to perfumes, the company also produced fruit extracts and various toiletries. This label for the Cream of Roses was for their product launched in 1920. This would be lovely on cards or lamp shade projects.

I removed the Text from the Bacorn Label for you so that you can use it for whatever you like. The roses make such a pretty border so this would be nice for a frame for your vintage photo, cards, label, tag, or sign for your blog!

This lovely Carnation came from my print that was published in the London Magazine on May 1st 1809.
I find its gorgeous candy cane like coloration to be very unusual from other flower prints. Use it for cards, Christmas themed projects, Tags. All kinds of uses; wouldn't this be pretty on a decoupage vase?
