Joseph Clayton Clarke (1857 – 8 August 1937), who worked under the pseudonym 'Kyd', was a British artist best known for his illustrations of characters from the novels of Charles Dickens. In 1889 he married Agnes Roberts (born 1872, 15 years his junior) with whom he proceeded to have 10 children.
What I find very interesting about his style is that though many illustrations were very humorous and larger than life there is a certain amount of realism to them. I almost would like to say that maybe perhaps he helped to influence Norman Rockwell.
If you were to make a Christmas scene project I thought that he would be wonderful in front of an arm chair and fire place looking out his window at Carolers.
