12/15/2016

Picture
Hi were Lady T & Angel Koch,
If you are new to the Happy Planner, let us tell you what it is: it’s a basic planner, but it’s a LOT more useful for those of us that like to be creative. It’s not a boring planner with a grid! The colors and graphics are bold and vibrant or soft and beautiful, depending on the planner you pick (and there are a lot of styles).  This one on the left is the Color me! Its cover can be swapped out with coloring pages! Woot!  Value $ 24.99 and no we are not affiliated with them but we do make stickers, covers and kits for them!

The planner covers are 7.75” x 9.75” and the pages are  7” x 9.25”. It includes:
  • An 12-month planner with tabbed dividers that can be COLORED
  • weekly and monthly calendar pages
  • colorful pages, quotes, and gorgeous fonts throughout (that fit with the theme of the planner you select)
  • space for creative planning and scheduling – including stickers, doodles, reminders, and more
  • rings so that pages can be easily removed or added you can add anything with  a special punch.
I’ll explain more in a minute, but first let me mention I Love being a planner person!

SO what is this happy thingy?  As you can imagine, you are using the Happy Planner to plan your months, weeks, and daily activities. But the difference between the HP and a regular planner – you’re going to use all sorts of art supplies, stickers, pens, pencils, tapes, and other fun craft goodies to accent the planner and turn it into more of a creative journal and scrapbook. Yes – it serves a dual purpose.  LIONS TIGERS AND BEARS OH MY!!!!
The covers normaly are laminated for people who are hard on their planners, (the ones on the left are pockets!) But you can customize and laminate your own and we have made some kits for you to do that too!

Below is a Peek inside this awesome Freebie Planner we are giving away!

Life and the lack thereof: The Art of moving on.

In the last two months we have lost an Aunt, 2 grandfathers and a pet. I make no apologies for my disappearance over the recent days due to this as Life is what happens when you are trying to live. I have been reflecting and paying honor to those we have lost and am forever thoughtful of my friends and their families as well as you my reader and yours.

I am the only one who edits and keeps this site going so when I am not here, well neither are site updates.  I am back and on my mission to fill the world with great art and design.

They say life goes on. Yep for the living it does and people will just pass you buy without a single thought in their head for the person they just passed. Do you ever wonder what goes on in the lives of those you pass on the street? I do. Sometimes I just want to ask what its like to be them.

I would like to know what life is like for you? Will you tell me?

Cats & Dogs Against Progress An Epiphanie

8/8/2014

So I woke up this morning to the sounds of the dogs barking and wanting to get up and have some breakfast. This broke off the dreams of what I would accomplish today as a designer. A similar problem happened last night. You see I went to bed last night late because I was working on some Vintage frames that could be used for making Vintage cards, pictures etc...
You can see those here:

Woof Arf WOOF BARK. OH MY whaa to do with the banner I was, ARF, working, BARK, where am I. GAH I lost the thought and where I was working in my sleep. Which takes me back as to why I need to keep a journal by the bed. So stumbling out of bed I go and take the two dogs out.

Cats and dogs...They make great pets and guard dogs. Yes a lot of fun but they are no partners for success and are definitely against progress.  Although I have to admit they are good at getting the day rolling and getting fed and I guess that kind of a start to a day isn't' all that bad. Hence the epiphany.
And I finally gave up working on them because the cat crawled up onto the keyboard and implied your done its' time for bed. So I was waylaid on both ends of the clock.  I saved what I was working on and put it aside for today.

Well off to bed I went. Now mind you I have sleep Apnea and Fibro. I do not sleep well. even though I am exhausted I will need to read, play video games, watch TV till I finally fall into a comma. This usually takes 3 hours. Then about an hour later I am awake again and we rinse an repeat. I usually will find deep sleep between four and six a.m. and then...

Birthdays and Pinterest

8/4/2014

So what do Birthdays and Pinterest have in common? Not a darn thing! But today is my awesome sister in laws birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY HEATHER! More like a sister then a sister in law and when you grow up with 3 brothers and all male cousins its really cool to have a girl around. Especially a girl like Heather Jones. She's an awesome artist in her own right and I would love to feature her often but shes always busy doing some crazy cool thing like today shes in Scotland and other times shes on a Roller Derby team.
Picture
This is my brother and sister in law aren't they cute? Yep they were born with those faces but we love them anyway. Ok cool thing about these two. Jay (my bro) creates  hand made glass and is currently learning to make Cloisonne jewelry.  Epic right? I would burn my hand off for sure. I am so clumsy and am already dangerous enough with the projects I make by hand. Heather can pretty much do anything I can which is super awesome when you get us together because we can pretty much make anything when we set our minds to it.  Recently my brother bought me a Cameo cutter and it is the current joy of my life. You will see soon why its' so darn amazin and why I think my brother is the glue to my gorilla.

Now again what does any of this have to do with Pinterest. Nothing. I told you that earlier so why did you ask me again? Oh right I told you in earlier posts to ask questions! Good job! Well today I was trying to figure out how to code a Pinterest button to work with my photos. Especially the cool free stuff so that you can pin and share it with others. After all what is free stuff if you can't share it right? And its really not nice to horde it all to yourself. Even though I know you want to because I do too. but I have accumulated so much cool stuff I am exploding with it and need to share. I want you to share too so please tell everyone...HEY COOL FREE STUFF ON GRAFXQUEST.  Excellent ok moving on.

Well anyway since I am my own Website developer, marketer, designer and the list keeps growing; I find it necessary, essential even to learn how to do a little bit of coding to make things work the way I want. My web publisher doesn't offer Pinterest to just throw into my posts so what to do what to do.  Well what you do is you look around until you find someone who has some information on the net, and half the time it may only be partially what you need so you keep looking. Thats' pretty much what I have done a few times now to figure this out. I am now happy to say I can now code Pinterest tags properly and they actually work.  So for those of you looking for a way to add Pinterest to your blogs or whatever you do because you want the world to see your awesome stuff, I say too damn bad. Why should I share the info that took me hours to figure out.  Ha! Kidding ok so get your pen because I am going to try and make this as easy as possible.

First pull up your blog where you want to add your Pinterest pins. Second pull up this Pinterest Widget builder  link.
http://business.pinterest.com/en/widget-builder#do_pin_it_button
First click on "One Image" (you can experiment and play with the other stuff later as you get the hang of it). Next go back to your blog or where your photo is posted. Copy your Url above on the bar of the page where the photo is posted.  Go to the Widget link and paste it into the "
URL: " line. Next go back to your blog or where the image is saved click on it to open it in a new tab and copy that URL in the bar. Go back to your widget page and paste that info into the "Image:" Line. next it asks you to type in a description. Its important to type info on the photo and something that leads people back to your blog if you want followers. So your description should look something like this. Happy Birthday Heather~GrafXQuest.com . Make sense? Next click build it. You should now see your image and code should generate in the box under your image. Copy that code and you can now use that code to put into your HTML boxes under your photo. That is of course if you know how to add one and every site is different.  I am going to assume you know how to do that part because I can't help you if you don't. This is definitely an easy way to add a Pinterest button and have the code generated for you.

Now you can have your piece of Pinterest Cake and eat it too!
Happy Birthday Heather want some? Sorry Its' not purple...

The Stove

7/27/2014

Today I was working on editing some free content for you all. You can find this cute little stove from 1886 as a free download on the Freebie page.  What I did was remove the background then converted the image to a negative. Then back again to Black and white. The reason for this is to remove the sepia background and get as clean a white background I can get so that this image can now be used for crafting purposes. You can see and download the copy of the original on the Freebie page. If I had left the image as a negative I suppose it could have been used as a chalk board drawing.
Picture
However I found that since the detailing on this is so tight that leaving it a white image kind of made it blurry and a little "wonky". Its my official Blog word. "Wonky" get used to it because you will see it a lot.

Anyway after reading further down and especially about my Etsy team Norga, go on over to the Freebie page and check it out. OH also make sure to stop and visit the Specials page. I have some incredible deals like a package of digital designer images worth 20,000 for Fifty bucks after using the $9 off coupon.  Can you imagine getting 20,000 worth of content for nearly free? I bought this deal myself that how incredible it is. No they don't pay me to critique the packs either. I just know from experience. I have now bought over 20 packages from them and they are priceless to me.  Anyway you will be seeing all kinds of cool content in the future as I use more and more of what they have.
